18,000 acres of land to be distributed to poor : Minister

Kochi, Jan 25 (UNI) Kerala Revenue Minister K P Rajendran today said around 18,000 acres of land reclaimed by the Government from encroachers would be distributed to about two lakh poor people in the State from April.

Inaugurating a Revenue Officials'conference here, he said a re-survey of lands in the State would be completed in the next three years.

The Minister said only 40 per cent of re-survey of land had been completed in the last 42 years and that was the main reason for land-related problems in the State.

Mr Rajendran said the Government would continue to take stringent action against those encroaching upon Government land.
