Sugarcane growing farmers gherao DC Office

Mandya, Jan 24 (UNI) The sugar cane growing farmers led by Rajya Raitha Sangha President K S Puttannaiah today gheraoed Deputy Commissioner office demanding announcement of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for sugar cane immediately.

Mr Puttannaiah criticised the delay adopted by the government in fixing the prices as assured. He demanded an action be initiated in fixing the sugar cane price immediately.

He threatened that sugar cane growers would be left with no option but to resort to stage indefinite dharna in front of Taluk Offices in the State from February four till the government concede the demand.

The Deputy Commissioner received the memorandum and assured of immediate action after discussing with state government.
