New Delhi, Jan 24 : Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh chaired a high-level meeting here last evening to discuss threadbare the matters related to the militancy-affected widows and orphans in Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmiri Pandits, West Pakistani refugees of 1947, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) refugees of 1947 and cross Line of Control (LoC) travel.

The meeting lasting about one-and-a-half hour was attended Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, National Security Advisor M K Narayanan, Special Representative on Kashmir N N Vohra, Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta, Defence Secretary Vijay Singh and Principal Secretary to Prime Minister T K S Nair.

The implementation of the Working Groups' recommendations on Jammu and Kashmir was also discussed at the meeting.

The five working groups were formed following the second round-table conference convened by the PM in Srinagar in 2006 on economic development, strengthening relations across the LoC, confidence building measures across segments of society in the state, ensuring good governance and strengthening Centre-State relations.

Out of the five working groups, four had submitted their reports to the PM last year, while that of the fifth on the Centre-State relations is awaited.
