KPCC seeks white paper on govt land owned by PSUs
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 24 (UNI) The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) today demanded the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the state to come up with a white paper on lands provided to the PSUs owned by both the State and Centre governments.
Talking to the press after the KPCC executive meeting, its President Ramesh Chennithala said the meeting condemned the government action in 'helping' the land mafias to acquire government lands.
He urged Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan to take action against the Ministers, who involved in the Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) land deal and alleged that the Chief Minister's statement that he was 'studying the facts' was to protect culprits behind the deal.
It was alleged that 70 acres of land belonging to HMT, was sold out to Mumbai based HDIL, for developing the 'Cyber City' at Kalamassery in Ernakulam district. The land was part of the area leased to the HMT, a Central PSU, by the state government several years ago.
The meeting had also observed that the Finance Management of the government was a ''total failure'' as it could not collect even half of the tax, he said.
