Haryana expands labour welfare schemes

Chandigarh, Jan 24 (UNI) Haryana Labour Welfare Board has simplified and extended the scope of existing labour welfare schemes to make these schemes more effective besides launching several new schemes in order to raise the standard of living of labourers and their dependents.

A spokesman for the Labour Department said here today that the benefits of the schemes had been extended for labour class as well as supervisory class drawing wages upto Rs 10,000 per month. The sphere of scholarship scheme had been enhanced and the percentage of marks had been reduced from 60 per cent to 50 per cent.

The amount of scholarship had been extended to girl students half per cent more than that of male students. Similarly, the employee players of the national and international level had been included in the scheme irrespective of their percentage of marks.

He said that all Technical Diplomas, Industrial Training Institute Diplomas, B Sc, Nursing Courses, Graduates and Post Graduate Courses had also been incorporated in the schemes.

Earlier, all such courses were not included in the schemes.

The spokesman said that under the scheme of ex-gratia to the widows and dependents of the deceased employee, the ex-gratia amount had been enhanced from Rs ten thousand to Rs twenty thousand.

Similarly, the amount under disablement scheme had also been enhanced from Rs. 7500 to Rs. 10,000.

He said that the Dental Care had also been included alongwith Spectacles scheme and the amount had been enhanced from Rs 250 to Rs 500 and the families of the employees had also been covered under the scheme. The terms and conditions of Ex-cursion-cum-Study Tour scheme had been liberlised and re-imbursement of 50 paisa per kilo meter per employee along with family would be available on the pattern of Haryana Roadways.

The spokesman said that the journey at religious places of Haridwar,Rishikesh, Ajmer and Amritsar had been approved for industrial workers alongwith stay charges at Rs 50 per employee or family member per day and re-imbursement of fare as per the scheme. The terms of 'Mukhya Mantri Sharam Puruskar Scheme' had also been liberlised and the eligible employees had been short listed for the first time for awarding of these awards. Job Oriented courses Mobile repair and UPS repair had been including in the Labour Welfare Centres implemented by the Board, he added.
