Cold wave intensifies in Delhi, mercury drops to 2.4 deg C

New Delhi, Jan 24: Icy cold winds continue to send Delhiites in a shiver for the fifth consecutive day today, with the mercury plummeting to 2.4 degrees Celsius, 6 degrees below normal.

For the fifth day in succession, cold Northwesterly winds left Delhiites shivering. The minimum temperature dropped, from 3 degrees C yesterday, to 2.4 degrees C which was 6 degrees below normal. Though a slight mist was witnnessed in the morning, visibility level remained normal at 1500 mts. Weatherman attribute the severe cold wave sweeping the Capital these week to cold Northwesterly winds and the influence of a fresh Upperair Cyclonic System.

The cold wave condition is likely to persist in next few days, with weatherman forecasting a minimum temperature of 3 degrees C tomorrow. The met office has forecast mainly clear sky in the next 24 hours.
