AP HC refers batch of Writs to higher bench
Hyderabad, Jan 24 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh High Court today referred a batch of Writ Petitions, filed in support and against the four per cent reservation in education and jobs for the backward classes within the Muslim community, to a larger seven-member Constitutional Bench.
Hitherto a five-member Constitional Bench was hearing the case.
It may be recalled that the Supreme Court in October 2007 had referred to the High Court the Writ Petitions. The apex court had directed that interim stay granted by it against the implementation of the impugned notification, however, would continue till the High Court decides the petition on merits.
