113 kg fuki and poppy straw seized in south Kashmir
Srinagar, Jan 24 (UNI) In a major success against drug smugglers, the Jammu and Kashmir police have seized 113 kg of fuki and poppy straw in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, official sources said today.
They said on a tip-off, police raided number of places in Pulwama and arrested a smuggler Showkat Khan at Banderpora.
Later, police also recovered 100 kg of fuki and 13 kg of poppy straw.
Police in its continued drive against the drug smugglers, have arrested more than two dozen people and seized several hundred kg of banned drugs in the valley during last year.
They also destroyed charas and other banned crops over thousands of kanals of land, particuarly in south Kashmir districts of Anantnag and Pulwama during the same period.
