Kerala for CBI probe into PSU expansion
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 23 (UNI) The Kerala government today decided to go in for a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in the Rs 760-crore expansion and upgradation project of the Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd (KMML), undertaken by the previous Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government.
The agreements signed by the previous UDF government, as part of the upgradation of the state PSU would be cancelled, Chief Minister V S Achuthanadan told reporters after a Cabinet meeting .
Meanwhile, the Cabinet approved the Rs 60 core upgradation project submitted by the management of KMML, engaged in extraction and value-addition of rare metals and minerals.
A CBI probe was sought as the project envisaged by the previous Government involved certain foreign collaborations, he said.
