Witherspoon's rep laughs off engagement reports

Washington, Jan 22 : Reese Witherspoon's rep has shot down rumours that the actress has gotten engaged to her actor beau Jake Gyllenhaal.

The news of the engagement was reported by UK weekly magazine Reveal, which also stated that the couple were soon going to tie the knot.

"Jake popped the question during a romantic trip to Rome last October, but Reese has only just accepted the Brokeback Mountain star's proposal," the mag stated.

However, Witherspoon's rep tells Us magazine that the reports are not true.

"It's absolutely false. There's not one ounce of truth to it," the mag quoted the rep, as saying.

31-year-old Witherspoon has been dating Gyllenhaal, 26, since early last year.

She was previously married to actor Ryan Phillippe, with whom she has two children, a daughter Ava, 8, and a son Deacon, 3.
