With whiff of polls in air, TDP to woo Backward Classes again

Warangal, Jan 22 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Party(TDP) is all set to hold a public meeting here tomorrow to sustain the support of the Backward Classes.

After wooing the farmers with ''Rytu Garjana'' (Ryots roar) in Vijayawada, TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu will be holding the 'BCs Garjana' ('BCs roar') in this town in the backward Telangana region, to retain the party's hold over the BCs, considered to be it's ''vote bank'' since its launch by actor-turned-politician late N T Rama Rao.

The TDP Chief would also announce the formation of a special fund for the welfare of the BCs, party sources said, adding Mr Naidu would also promise key constitutional posts to the members of the community if the party returns to power in the 2009 elections.

The BCs have realised that the Congress Government had not only been ''neglecting their welfare but also supressing them politically with vengeance'' by denying key posts in the Government, Mr Naidu alleged ahead of the party meet.

''The previous TDP Government had worked for the welfare of BCs and if voted back to power, all the schemes for their welfare, including ''Adarana'', would be revived, he said.

TDP Legislature Party Deputy leader T Devender Goud, belonging to the Backward Classes, would be among the key participants in the political meet, he added.
