National Days to be occasions of 'sublime celebration': HC
Kochi, Jan 22 (UNI) National Days shall be occasions of ''sublime activity and celebration'' in offices and other establishments in the state, the Kerala High Court ordered today.
Justice R Basanth ordered that national holidays shall be occasions of serious observation and celebration in government offices and other establlishments in the state.
''It must be a different type of holiday and not merely an idle holiday to sit at home. The National Days must be reckoned as opportunities to kindle the flame of nationalism, patriotism and constititutional idealism, as occasions to introspect and rededicate to the ideals that India stands for,'' he said.
He also directed heads of offices to take steps to ensure the participation of the maximum number of staff members.
He hoped that the directions would be obseved properly with immediate effect.
The court gave these directions while granting bail to Suryamuthu, a watcher in the PWD buildings sub-division, Munnar, who faces charges of showing disrespect to the National Flag.
