Dell launches new blade server

Dell,
the
fastest
growing
IT
vendor
in
the
country
has
announced
the
launch
of
M1000e,
the
new
Blade
Server
which
comes
with
more
energy
efficiency,
flexibility
and
designed
to
slash
data
center
power
consumption
here
today.
Announcing the launch of M1000e Director Enterprise Strategy Group, Dell India Pallab Talukdar,informed that the introduction of new product would help Dell to consolidate and enhance its market share in the country. Outlining the features of the M1000e, Mr Talukdar informed that it consumes upto 19 per cent less energy than HP and deliver up to 28 per cent better performance per watt than IBM, the two leading operators in Blade Servers segment.
He said that the PowerEdge M-series consumes upto 19 per cent less power and achieves up to 25 per cent better performance per watt than HP Blade System c-Class and 12 per cent less energy and achieves up to 28 per cent better performance per watt as compared to IBM BladeCenter H.
Mr Talukdar also informed that the new product built on Dell's Energy Smart technologies, the PowerEdge M-Series enables businesses to save on power and cooling costs while increasing server capacity.
The M-Series also provides lead-free configurations, delivering a 'green IT' solution that further helps customers minimize their environmental impact he added.
On the product, Mr Talukdar said that the Power-Edge M1000e, a 10U-sized enclosure, supports 16 blade servers and was optimized for Dell's Power Edge M600 and M605 blade servers and supports upto two quad-core Intel Xeon and Quad-core AMD Opteron processors respectively. He said that Dell PowerEdge M-series was the ideal platform for virtualization and enables customers to consolidate their data center operations and improve utilization without sacrificing performance. The ability to provision virtual machines and physical machines in the same blade server chassis simplifies deployment and management of virtualized environment, he said.
Mr Talukdar also informed that the Dell which enjoys over 20 per cent market share in the Indian server market was however ways behind as for as Blade Server segment was cocnerned and expressed confidence that with the introduction of new Blade Server fitted with enhanced features would help to acquire more market space.
The new product which was long on promises and short on helping customers address the growing costs and complexity in their data centers was launched worldwide last night, he added.
