Corruption, main poll-plank of MDP in Meghalaya: MDP
Shillong, Jan 22 (UNI) The Meghalaya Democratic Party (MDP), an ally of the rulling Congress, has said that corruption will be the main poll-plank, besides improvement in agriculture activities for the coming Assembly polls in the state.
''Once the MDP is voted to power,the party will ensure to provide a clean government and eradicate corruption,'' party president and Social Welfare Minister Martle N Mukhim said, while announcing the first list of candidates, including three female candidates, for the polls.
Mr Mukhim, who is seeking re-polls from Dienglieng constituency, said the MDP manifesto, which he claimed to be 'pro-farmers'' would be released shortly.
''The manifesto will highlight issues concerning farmers in the state,'' he said.
The minister, who suffered a setback after three of his MLAs quit the party, added that the MDP would also stressed on uplifting economic and social life through education.
Earlier, the MDP announced the names of 15 candidates, which includes three former Congress ministers Sujit K Sangma contesting from Rongjeng constituency, Edmund S Lyngdoh from Nongbah-Wahiajer constituency and H Ledishon Nongsiang from Mawthengkut constituency.
