Army rescues eight members of a family from snow avalanche

Army

rescued
eight
members
of
a
family
from
a
snow
avalanche,
in
Machil
sector
in
north
Kashmir,
where
three
soldiers
were
buried
last
week
after
the
area
experienced
more
than
10
feet
of
snowfall.
A Defence Ministry spokesman said the family members were in their house at village T Suntwari, when a huge snow avalanche came rolling from a hill top and hit their house.
However, the troops immediately swung into action risking their lives after the report about the tragedy reached the Army post located at a distance.
A rescue team along with unit's medical officer reached the place with great difficulty because of heavy snowfall.
It was only after the snow was removed that the troops finally reached the family members, who were injured and in a great shock, he said.
The injured were given first aid, he said, adding the Army would help the family in rebuilding their damaged house.
