UNODC's media sensitisation workshop on AIDS
Guwahati, Jan 21 (UNI) The South Asia office of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is organising a day-long workshop on 'Role of the Media in Drug Abuse and HIV/AIDS prevention' here tomorrow.
The objective of workshop is to share the facts and information about drug abuse and HIV/AIDS and the role of media in mitigating the problem, informed press release.
It will also discuss the issue of glamorisation of drugs in popular medium.
Meant for journalists of Assam and Meghalaya, the workshop is being organised by the UNODC with active support of the Guwahati Press Club, Journalist Forum (Assam) and senior journalists of NE. Mr Gary Lewis, representative of the UNODC, will be addressing the media on issues related to drug abuse and HIV/AIDS scenario in NE and UNODC's effort and response in this regard, the release added.
