Rifleman, chowkidar arrested for aiding militants

Imphal, Jan 21: The Imphal West Commandos have arrested a policeman and a government official for working as aides of the proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), police said today.

The duo were identified as N Amujao and Soibam Malemnganba.

They were apprehended by Imphal West Commandos from Paona Bazar here yesterday, Superintendent of Police (Imphal West) Clay Khongsai said.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that Amujao worked as a Rifleman (no 405157) in 4th IRB, while Malemnganba was a Chowkidar in the Education Department. They were assigned to extort money from the shops for the banned group, Clay said.
