Northeast gets second pvt TV channel

Guwahati, Jan 21 (UNI) News Live, a 24-hour bilingual satellite television channel, went on air today.

Besides the public broadcaster Doordarshan, the region so far had only one private TV channel "NETV".

The News Live is the first automated satellite news channel with six on line bureaus from across Assam and New Delhi.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and noted litterateur Homen Borgohain were present during launching of first news casting.

"This is a 24-hour news channel covering events from across the world, with emphasis on Assam and the Northeast" said News Live Managing Editor Syed Zarir Hussain.
