North Chennai Thermal Power Station's capacity to be expanded
Chennai, Jan 21 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy today inaugurated the expansion works at North Chennai Thermal Power Station at Athipattu, near here, for installing an additional 600 MW power plant.
The proposed power plant, to be installed by the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, was expected to generate power within 39 months from the start of work, an official release here said.
This is part of the efforts taken by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to meet the increasing demand for power, as per the directions of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, the release said.
