Mandatory speed governors as per HC order: Official
Mysore, Jan 21 (UNI) Karnataka Governor's Advisor P K H Tharakan today said the mandatory fixing of speed governors in transport vehicles was being enforced in the State following a High Court order.
Talking to reporters here, he said he would try to convince the lorry owners in this regard and explain them the need for such a device.
The High Court would hear a writ petition filed by the South India Lorry Owners Association, seeking a stay on the rule making installation of speed governors mandatory in commercial transport vehicles.
Earlier, Mr Tharakan held a meeting on security at the Police Commissioner's office, which was attended by top police officials of the Southern range. He also reviewed the district development works at the Deputy Commissioner's office.
He asked the district officials to expedite revision of voters' list and make preparations for the coming Assembly elections on a war footing.
