Mah Govt to assist onion producers
Mumbai, Jan 21 (UNI) The Maharashtra government has come forward to assist the onion producers, considering the huge losses they had suffered due to reduction in the rate of crops per quintal.
According to an official release, the farmers were facing huge losses due to reduction in the rate of onions.
With the railways making available 1,560 wagons for the transport of onions, it had helped to carry 6.25 lakh tonnes of crop in country's market.
The government will give Rs 1,500 per tonne to the farmers as grant, it added.
