Book fair organiser asked to filed affidavit
Kolkata, Jan 21 (UNI) The Kolkata book fair organiser was today asked to file an affidavit in two days on its plan to shift venue as it was was feared that traffic would be thrown out of gear.
A two-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Surinder Singh Nijjar issued the ruling on a public interest litigation filed by a city resident Dipendra Mohon Sen.
Mr Sen said the greenery of Park Circus, believed to be the lungs of the central city, would also be ravaged if the fortnight-long fair was allowed to be held there.
'' Book fair should be held at Milan Mela , the fair ground in the eastern part of the city,'' he prayed before the bench.
The PIL would come up for hearing again on Thursday.
