Bird flu scare hits egg supply in mid-day meal
Jeypore, Jan 21 (UNI) The scare of bird flu hit the supply of eggs to primary schools under the miday meal scheme in Koraput district.
The authorities found it difficult to get three lakh eggs to meet the requirements of primary schools in the district from the local market after the disease broke out in neighbouring West Bengal.
Though the district largely depended upon Andhra Pradesh and Chhattishgarh to meet its egg requirement, the people were afraid of outsourcing it, official sources said.
The prices of chicken had fallen by 50 per cent as there were a few takers for poultry and poultry products in the district.
