2 Lashkar militants killed in Kashmir
Srinagar, Jan 21 (UNI) Two militants of Pakistan based Lashkar-e- Toiba (LeT) were killed in a fierce encounter in south Kashmir today, a senior police officer said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Pulwama, Nitish Kumar said Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir police launched a search operation at village Aliyalpora in Shopian district today, following a tip off about the presence of militants there.
Mr Kumar said during the operation militants opened fire.
Later, troops of 44 Rashtriya Rafiles (RR) and 166 CRPF also joined the operation.
The SSP said in the fierce clash two LeT militants were killed.
One of the slain militants was identified as Tahir-ul-Islam. Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
