UNPA to join Left in fight for farmers' cause

Hyderabad, Jan 20 (UNI) United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) Convenor N Chandrababu Naidu today said the UNPA would fight for farmers' cause along with the Left parties in Parliament.

Addressing the press here, Mr Naidu said the UNPA and the Left would stage a rally in New Delhi, on the first day of the budget session, demanding implementation of M S Swaminathan Commission recommendation.

They would also demand a hike in Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all agriculture produce.

Stating that the UNPA would join hands with other 'like minded' parties to intensify their struggle on farmers' problems, he said ''We want to mount pressure on the Centre by organising a series of agitations at national level.'' Mr Naidu alleged that the UPA government at the Centre had failed to protect the interests of the farmers.

The UNPA would organise farmers' meetings on February 3, 6 and 11 at Mumbai, Ranchi and Sonapat in Haryana respectively, he added.
