Rao may take over as new CoP
Hyderabad, Jan 20 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Additonal DGP (Law and Order) B Prasad Rao will take over as City Police Commissioner from Mr Balwinder Singh who is proceeding on long leave from tomorrow.
According to official sources here, the government was considering to appoint Mr Rao as the 43rd CoP.
He had served in various capacities in the State Police Department and was known as a follower of rulebook.
A 1979 batch IPS officer, Mr Rao had served as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Karim Nagar Districts.
He also served as DIG of Eluru and Kurnool Ranges and Commissioner of Visakhapatnam from 2002 to 2004.The sources said a formal announcement as expected by late this evening.
