Pranab discusses granting of VIth schedule to Darjeeling
Kolkata, Jan 20 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today met an all party delegation of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and discussed granting of sixth schedule status to Darjeeling.
The Trinamool Congress was, however, not present at the meeting held at the NSCBI airport.
Later briefing the press, state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sailen Sarkar said the meeting decided to urge the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the matter to submit its report soon.
The delegation also decided to meet Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Chairperson of the Standing Committee Sushma Swaraj in Delhi.
Mrs Swaraj could not be present at the meeting.
The Congress was represented by Dr Manas Bhuniya.
