Left Front alleges snatching of EPICs in Tripura
Agartala, Jan 20 (UNI) The ruling Left Front government in Tripura today alleged that the opposition-backed miscreants were snatching the Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) from the voters in interior locations of the state and demanded to allow them to cast their votes after showing other official documents during the Assembly elections on February 23.
Talking to mediapersons here, Left Front spokesperson Gautam Das alleged that miscreants were threatening the voters and taking away their EPICs and also luring them by offering various benefits.
''We have brought the matter to the notice of the Election Commission and asked the Chief Election Commissioner to ensure that all eligible electorates could cast their votes after showing other official documents,'' Mr Das said.
He accused the state unit of the Congress and INPT of hatching a conspiracy against the Left Front.
''The Opposition parties are trying to misguide the voters.
Besides, they are also demanding shifting of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) camps and withdrawal of village defence force SPOs ahead of the polls to make use of extremists during the elections,'' Mr Das said.
He also claimed that the Left Front would retain power in the state for the sixth time with absolute majority.
