BJP expecting LS polls soon: Ex-Minister

Puducherry, Jan 20 (UNI) BJP Leader and Former Union Minister V Dhananjayakumar today said his party was 'expecting Lok Sabha elections very soon' considering political developments at the Centre.

Addressing the press here, Mr Dhananjayakumar, also in-charge of Party Affairs in Puducherry, pointed out to the 'dilemma and confict of views' among UPA partners and the Left extending support to the UPA Government and added in the next elections, people would give the BJP an opportunity to form the government.

He also referred to DMK Chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's waning influence in his state and said the party's national leaders will take a decision on an electoral tie-up with the AIADMK at an appropriate time.

Mr Kumar also denied BJP's role in the attack on NDTV Office in Ahmedabad and condemned the incident.

On JD(S) Rebel Leader M P Prakash joining the Congress, he said the BJP was not in a race to snatch him.

He said the party state unit had sorted out differences among the office-bearers and resolved to work unitedly under State President M Visweswaran.

The BJP leader said the party would take up the problems faced by the people here, including the Centre's move to grant autonomy to JIPMER and the port development project.

The party would take up with the Centre, the State Government's alleged failure in devolving powers to local bodies, he added.
