2 naxals slain in MP

Balaghat, MP, Jan 20 (UNI) Two naxals were killed and a Hawk Force constable sustained a gunshot wound during an encounter today in this district's Girimuram forest 90 km from here, police said.

More than three dozen maoists attacked a patrol party. The personnel's retaliatory action killed the rebels, whose bodies were carried away by other ultras though the police pursued the militants.

Naxal literature seized from the site indicated that the insurgents might be having a meeting in the area. The constable was hospitalised.

Balaghat, Mandla and Dindori are Madhya Pradesh's naxalism-affected districts.
