MDU Regional Centre to be completed by June

Chandigarh, Jan 19 (UNI) The Regional Centre of Maharishi Dayanand University, being set up at village Meerpur at a cost of Rs 50 crore over an 100 acres of land donated by the village Panchayat, would be completed by the June next year.

This was disclosed by the PWD (B&R) Minister, Capt Ajay Singh Yadav while presiding over a meeting to review the construction work of Meerpur Post Graduate Regional Centre, here.

He expressed the gratitude towards Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for laying the foundation stone of this Post Graduate Regional Centre on December 16, 2005 and for providing liberal financial assistance for the construction of this institute.

He also thanked the Panchayat of village Meerpur for providing 100 acres of land for setting up of university. He said that this step would help in providing higher education facilities in the southern Haryana.

Capt Yadav said a sum of Rs 16 crore would be incurred on the civil works being undertaken in the regional centre. He said the work of Academic-cum-Administrative Block was in progress at an estimated cost of Rs 4.29 crore.

He said similarly the approval for construction of Girls Hostel which would have the capacity to accommodate 120 students had also been accorded.
