Hundreds taken ill by consuming red wheat: BJP
Betul, MP, Jan 19 (UNI) The ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh today claimed that hundreds of people have taken ill after consuming flour made of red wheat received from the Centre for distribution under the Public Distribution System.
State party organisational secretary and Betul incharge Rameshwar Sharma told reporters here today that several people had taken ill in Betul itself.
Replying to a query, he said the BJP had been against distribution of red wheat from the very beginning. The party would stage block-level demonstrations across the state on January 21 in protest on this issue and other public-related issues.
He said Congress leaders must consume red wheat first in order to set example. The party would send 'chapatis' made of red wheat to the Prime Minister if required.
Mr Sharma alleged that the Centre was meting out step-motherly treatment to the state by curtailing power and kerosene quota of the state.
