Cold weather claims 6 bovines

Rameswaram, Jan 19 (UNI) One cow died due to extreme cold conditions at the ancient Sri Ramanathaswamy temple here today.

Temple sources attributed the deaths to lack of proper shelter for the animals. Malnutrition was also stated as a reason.

Five calves had perished under suspicious circumstances recently.

The animals were gifted to the temple by devotees.

Following the deaths, the temple administration decided to grow grass in 40 acres.
