Chandigarh, Jan 18 (UNI) Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda today urged the entrepreneurs to invest in the areas of education, energy and water conservation while realising their social responsibility.

Mr Hooda was replying to the questions of delegates at a plenary session on 'Charting Growth: Making it Inclusive on the third day of the Partnership Summit-2008' organised jointly by the Haryana Government, Union Ministery Commerce and Industry and Confederation of Indian Industry in Gurgaon.

He said that 60 per cent of the population of India was residing in rural areas and was dependent on only 20 per cent of the economic wealth of the country.

India, he said, had been progressing rapidly in terms of economic development. With a view to making the rural people partner in this development, their skills would have to be improved because our economy was now moving from agrarian to production, services and industrialisation.

He said the entrepreneurs should come forward to resolve two vital issues of providing quality education in villages and the problems being faced by villagers in view of transition of agrarian economy towards industrial based economy.

He said Haryana was moving from an agricultural state to that of production and services. In such a situation when the land holdings would be small, a large number of youth would require employment.

Therefore, he said, it was a high time to make these youth so much skilled that they meet the requirement of skilled man power for industrial sector.

He said that with a view to provide job oriented technical education to the youth, the State Government has taken a number of steps to seek private participation. Therefore, the private sector has been permitted to open Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), polytechniques and engineering colleges.
