Addnl SHO suspended for escape of accused

Phagwara, Jan 18 (UNI) SSP Kapurthala Rakesh Aggarwal Kapurthla today suspended an Additional SHO Sultanpur Lodhi Rajesh Kumar and one head constable Tersem Singh on the charges of dereliction of duties as an alleged accused Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, escaped from police custody from nearby village Rurrka Kalan when the police party brought him to his house for some recovery yesterday.

The SSP told reporters here that the arrested accused was a member of Inter-Districts Gang of Snatchers and Robbers and was wanted in more than 40 cases of snatching and robberies.

The accused was arrested by Tarn Taran police and District Kapurthla Police had brought him to Sultanpur Lodhi on Production Warrants.

The SSP said after some important disclosures during police interrogation of the accused, a police party took him to his house in village Rurrka Kalan for recovery of several articles.

However, when they reached the house, the accused pushed the police personnel while they were climbing the stairs and slipped away.

Though Phagwara DSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh led a team to search search for the accused, there was no clue about his whereabouts.
