Rs 56 lakh ransom money recovered from kidnappers
Jalandhar, Jan 17 (UNI) Police today recovered Rs 56 lakh paid as ransom and a revolver from Congress Councillor and three of his accomplices involved in the kidnapping of a local coloniser's son.
Senior Superintendent of Police Arpit Shukla, while talking to media persons here this evening said that the money was recovered from different places in and around Jalandhar identified by the accused during interrogations.
He said that Rs 25 lakh and a revolver was recovered from Councillor Sukhmeet Singh alias Deputy, while Rs 11 lakh and Rs 10 lakh each recovered from Gurinder Singh, Jasbir Singh and Jitender Singh respectively.
He said a total of Rs one crore was paid as ransom to the kidnappers for the release of coloniser Subhash Kumar's son Micky.
All four had surrendered before the police yesterday evening.
A total eight persons were involved in the kidnapping, he said adding that the remaining four would be arrested soon.
