Haryana to soon strengthen and improve road network
New Delhi, Jan 17 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said the government would strengthen and improve the road network in the state keeping in view the road journey in the state from one corner to another was completed within three hours.
The Chief Minister was responding to a demand from Mr Deep Kapuria, Chairman, CII Northern Region, during special plenary on ''Destination Haryana- Leading India's Progress'' in The Progressive Summit-2008 organised at Gurgaon.
Spelling out ''Vision Haryana', he said that the state is targeting a growth rate of 11 per cent for the 11th financial plan.
The vision is to convert the existing 30 billion dollar economy into billion dollar economy in the next decade, he added.
Dwelling upon the transformation of Haryana from an agrarian state to a vibrant industrial economy competing at par with other entities on a global platform, Mr Hooda highlighted the key initiatives and achievements of the state government on the fiscal management front, infrastructure including soft infrastructure and focus on education and health, industrial development and agriculture towards making Haryana a number one investment destination, he said.
He said that the leading sectors in the state, which also offer investment opportunities, were IT and ITES, automobiles and auto components, food processing, high-end textiles, leather fashion garments and accessories, drugs and pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and incubation and development of frontier technologies which would be a key focus area for the next decade.
Elaborating on the investor friendly climate in the state, Mr P K Chaudhary, Financial Commissioner&Principal Secretary, Dept of Industries Commerce and IT, Haryana, said that the state government has created a strong legal framework ensuring time bound clearances to projects, creation of Industry Portal where investors can track the status of clearances to their projects, emphasise on self certification and creation of single window mechanism.
Mr R C Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd and Mr Pawan Munjal, Past Chairman CII Northern Region&Managing Director&CEO Hero Honda Motors Ltd, also shared their views on Haryana's focused and an integrated approach towards development of the state.
