BJP's women's wing to gherao Parliament on Feb 21
Patna, Jan 16 (UNI) The BJP Women's wing today announced that it would gherao Parliament on February 21 to press the UPA government to ensure 33 per cent reservation for fair sex in the House and state assemblies.
General Secretary of the women's wing of the party Ms Meera Kawaria told reporters here that despite assurance of the UPA government on reservartion for women in Parliament, nothing tangible had been done so far.Leave aside bringing the related bill in parliament, the UPA government had even failed to prepare its draft so far, she lamented.
''It is ironical that UPA had specifically mentioned its commitment on bringing legislation for 33 per cent reservation to women in very first session of Parliament after assuming power,'' she recalled.
Referring to commitment of the party on the issue, Ms Kawaria said that BJP had passed resolution at its national conclave for providing 33 per cent reservation to women in all organisational posts of the party.
