Application for Ansal brothers passport release heard
New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) A city court today heard the application of Ansal brothers, who were held guilty in the 1997 Uphaar fire case, for release of their passports.
Additional Sessions Judge Mamta Sehgal had sentenced Sushil and Gopal Ansal to two year's imprisonment for criminal negligence in the 1997 Uphaar fire case, that killed 59 people.
Later on as per order of the Delhi High Court, the Ansal brothers were released on bail after furnishing surety bond.
The Additional Sessions Judge today heard an application for release of their passports which was filed before the court yesterday.
Counsel for Ansal's argued that they are out on bail and the passports could be delivered to them.
The CBI had earlier stated that the High Court will decide about releasing of passports to the Ansals.
Judge Mamta Sehgal adjourned the matter till January 22.
