Western Command celebrates Army Day

Chandigarh, Jan 15 (UNI) Paying tribute to the valiant soldiers of the army who laid down their lives for the country, Lt Gen A N Aul, Chief of Staff, HQ Western Command, laid wreath at Veer Smriti, the Command war memorial at Chandimandir today to commemorate the Army Day.

A large number of senior officers, JCOs and other ranks were present to pay their homage on this occasion.

Every year, the army celebrates Jan 15 as 'Army Day', which commemorates the day on which Field Marshal K M Cariappa assumed command of the Indian Army 60 years ago.
