Suspected Maoists attack ASI

Bhubaneswar, Jan 15 (UNI) An Assistant Sub Inspector of Police sustained severe head injuries when suspected naxalites attacked him with sharp weapons near Kalimela hospital in Malkangiri district last night.

Malkangiri Superintendent of Police S K Gajibhiye said ASI S K Barik was attacked while he was patrolling the area on a bike at around 2200 hrs last night.

The SP said Mr Barik was out of danger and was sent to a hospital in adjoining Vishakhapatnam today for further treatment.
