US clean-energy companies to help India and China
Kolkata, Jan 14 (UNI) US clean-energy companies could help India and China meet their enormous energy demands by deploying technology that suited the environment, US Commerce Assistant Secretary David Bohigian said today.
Mr Bohigian, leading a delegation of 11 US clean-energy companies to India and China, told mediapersons here that the rapid growth of Indian and Chinese economies presented unparallel opportunities in the energy sector and his country wanted to exploit the prevailing situation.
This is the second clean energy trade mission Mr Bohigian brought to India, the first taking place in Delhi and Chennai in 2007.
In addition to its Kolkata visit, the trade mission will visit Bangalore, Beijing, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
Mr Bohigian said the US companies participating in the mission were among the most innovative in the world and they would present cutting-edge products and services to the dynamic markets of India and China.
He informed that at present US clean-energy companies were involved in four renewable energy projects in India.
The projects were located in Purulia, Bankura, West Dinajpur and on Kalyani Expressway, he added.
''The clean energy companies are specialised in the renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean coal and distributed generation sectors and offer innovative solutions to energy and environmental challenges of India and China,'' Mr Bohigian maintained.
