Protest against beating up of journalists
Jabalpur, Jan 14 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers today gheraoed RPF police station to protest the beating up of three mediapersons at Jabalpur railway station recently.
Besides, Youth Congress workers burnt the RPF in effigy in protest against the incident.
Three mediapersons, including a cameraman, were beaten by RPF jawans when they had gone to Jabalpur railway station for coverage where Gondwana Ganatantra Party (GGP) workers had gathered for 'Amarkantak rally' on January 12.
Madhya Pradesh Speaker Ishwardas Rohani, MP Rakesh Singh and Mayor Sushila Singh met Sahara Samay representative Kartik Agnihotri, cameraman Amrish Mishra and cable news BTV's Mohammed Iliayas at the district hospital yesterday.
Mr Singh criticised the incident and said he would raise the matter before Parliament during next session.
Mr Rohani said he would get the matter inquired and take strict action against the guilty.
A team of journalists registered a complaint in the complaint book of the Station Master and chanted slogans against the RPF at the railway station.
The Mahakaushal Electronic Media Association has submitted a memorandum to the Inspector General of Police (Rail) and the Divisional Rail Manager (Jabalpur) and warned that a sit-in would be staged if action was not taken against the guilty RPF jawans within 24 hours.
