Kidnapped child rescued, 3 arrested
Panaji, Jan 14 (UNI) The 18-month-old girl from Goa, who had been kidnapped for a Rs 50-lakh ransom by a maid servant and two others, was brought back from Delhi along with the alleged kidnappers.
The Goa police, in association with the Delhi police, had arrested the three yesterday.
The baby girl and her alleged kidnappers were brought to the city by air. The baby had been kidnapped on Friday night and she was traced yesterday in the Mangala Express when it reached Agra.
The child's kidnapping and her subsequent rescue figured in the Goa Legislative Assembly which appreciated the police for their swift investigation and restoration of the baby.
Home Minister Ravi Naik and director general of police B S Brar said the authorities were verifying the antecedents of the offenders.
Mr Brar said the baby was traced on time following well coordinated efforts of the Goa and Delhi police.
