Exide net up 58.27 pc to Rs 55 crores

New Delhi, Jan 14: Lead storage batteries manufacturer Exide Industries Ltd today said its net profit increased 58.27 per cent to Rs 55.16 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 34.85 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Its total income jumped 59.18 per cent to Rs 722.19 crore from Rs 453.68 crore in the said period. The company, which will supply batteries for Tata's Nano car, is also planning to increase its battery capacity to 10 million and may set up a plant at Singur.
