Ananthamurthy demands probe into scames in Mysore University

Mysore, Jan 14 (UNI) Noted writer and Jnanapita awardee U R Ananthamurthy today urged the Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur to order a probe into the alleged scames which have rocked in Mysore University recently.

Speaking to media persons here, he urged the Governor to instruct his advisors to began probe at the earlist. " I would meet Mr Thakur in this regard soon and submit a memorandum.

Urging that there should be transparency and no political interference in the probe, he regretted that Mysore University's image was badly damaged due to the irregularities committed by a few people. Recurrence of such scams should be checked in future.

Referring to the ongoing process to select the new Vice Chancellor to the University of Mysore and controversies surrounding it, Dr Murthy appealed to the Governor to reconstitute the search committee as the names recommended by the existing committee have run into trouble. Local candidates should not be made Vice Chancellor. Candidate should be from other universities, he suggested.
