250 birds injured during kite festival
Ahmedabad, Jan 14 (UNI) More than 250 birds were injured by kite threads, during the kite festival coinciding with Makar Sankranti celebrations, here today.
According to primary estimates by animal helpline volunteers, more than 250 birds were injured, as their wings got entangled in looming kite threads on various poles, trees and dish antennas.
Bird lovers and animal protection volunteers had made elaborate arrangements to provide medical help to the birds.
Doves and hawks were the worst hit birds during the kite festival.
Meanwhile, two persons in the district were also injured by the kite threads. One person in Anand town fell from rooftop while trying to negotiate a kite.
