'Inexplicit information equivalent to no information'
Sultanpur, Jan 13 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Information Commissioner Subhash Chandra Pandey today warned officials of stringent action for providing inexplicit information under Right to Information (RTI) Act.
Giving equivocal information is a punishable offence as it is equivalent to denial of information, Mr Pandey told newspersons here.
So far, 120 officials had payed a penalty of Rs 25,000 and are facing departmental inquiry for the offence.
During 2005-2007, state had registered 17,722 cases under the Act, of which 13,784 were solved.
Most of the complaints were from Education, Revenue and Panchayat departments.
