Hyundai to hike exports
New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) Country's largest car exporter Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) said it targets to increase exports, by more than double, in the current year.
''We aim to increase our export to about 2,65,000 units in the current year from 1,00,000 units in previous year,'' company's MD Heung Soo Lheem told reporters at ninth Auto Expo 2008 here.
The wholly-owned subsidiary of South Korea's Hyundai Motor Company, HMIL exported about 1,00,000 units of its Santro hatchback, called the Atos Prime overseas, and the Accent sedan to more than 65 countries.
''This will now rise to 70 countries including Middle East, Africa, Europe, Australia and developing countries,'' he said.
The company registered a total sales of 3,27,160 vehicles in the calendar year 2007, an increase 9.2 per cent over previous year.
