AIADMK wants Cabinet help in free garment scheme

Puducherry, Jan 13: Alleging that chaos prevaild in the implementaion of 'free garment scheme,' AIADMK Puducherry unit secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, today urged Chief Minister N Rangasamy to convene a Cabinet meeting to sort out the issue.

Addressing a press conference here, he said due to 'confrontation' between the Chief Minister and Welfare Minister, the latter had contradicted the Chief Minister's order that free garments be given only to red colour ration card holders this year and informed the officials to provide it to yellow colour card holders also in certain constituencies. Accordingly, free garments were provided to both categories in Bussy and Raj Bhawan constituencies.

Mr Anbazhagan demanded that it be extended to both categories in all constituencies.

The AIADMK would organise agitations if the government failed to maintain last year's structure, he warned.
